University Statement Regarding Greek Life Suspension

Review the FSU News article regarding the indefinite suspension of Greek Life activities, effective Monday, November 6, 2017.  The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life has posted a list of suspended activities and answers to common questions to assist community members.

IM League Cancellation for Fraternity and Sorority Teams

Fraternity and sorority leagues (regular season and playoffs) have been canceled in the following IM sports:

  • Flag football
  • Indoor volleyball
  • Softball
  • Kickball
  • Wiffleball

Fraternity teams registered for the following IM sports have had their registration canceled and will be removed from the regular season schedule:

  • 3-on-3 soccer

Fraternity or sorority teams that are not registered under their organization's name but who need to drop from a league due to University sanctions should notify the Intramural Sports Office at 850-644-2430 as soon as possible.

Fraternity and sorority teams will not be assessed a cancellation or forfeit fine due to a league or registration cancellation.

Players currently on a team roster with an organization registered in any fraternity or sorority league are not eligible to transfer to another team.  Effectively, the season has ended for all players on these teams in the respective sport.

Independent Teams

Independent or open league teams that are scheduled to play a fraternity or sorority team in upcoming regular season or playoff games should monitor team schedules online at teamsideline.com/fsu for changes. Team captains may contact the Intramural Sports Office at 850-644-2430 beginning Tuesday, November 7th at 12 Noon for additional information.

Individual players on teams participating in independent leagues -- men's, women's, co-rec, and open -- who are affiliated with a Greek organization may continue to participate on these independent league teams.  Such IM participation is considered independent of any Greek-affiliated organization.

Individual Player Eligibility

Players who are on the active team roster for IM teams in fraternity or sorority leagues due to prior participation in the sport this semester are NOT eligible to change teams within the sport.  Therefore, for all players on team rosters in fraternity and sorority leagues, the season has ended for that sport.

Individual players on teams participating in independent leagues -- men's, women's, co-rec, and open -- who are affiliated with a Greek organization may continue to participate on these independent league teams.  Such IM participation is considered independent of any Greek-affiliated organization.

Spring Semester Participation

Additional details regarding spring intramural sports will be determined and announced at a later date.
