University Statement Regarding Greek Life Activities

Review the FSU News article announcing reforms to the Greek Life community from Monday, January 29, 2018.  The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life website has information regarding any limited activities and answers to common questions to assist community members.

Fraternity & Sorority Team Eligibility - Spring 2018 - Upcoming Sports

Beginning with the next team registration period (February 20th - softball) and for all subsequent sports, desginated fraternity and sorority leagues will be offered (when traditionally offered for the sport).  At that time, fraternities and sororities affiliated with the FSU Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life (Greek Life) will be able to register under their organization's name or participate as an organized group representing their organization.

Fraternity & Sorority Team Eligibility - Spring 2018 - In Progress Sports

Intramural Sports in which registration periods have already closed and regular season play has already begun will not be adjusted. Greek organization members participating on independent teams in the men's and women's leagues should continue to participate on these teams.  No new openings for fraternity or sorority teams will be made available.  These sports include rec soccer, basketball, team bowling, and wallyball.

Independent Teams & Individual Player Eligibility - Spring 2018 - In Progress Sports

Individual players on teams participating in independent leagues -- men's, women's, co-rec, and open -- who are affiliated with a Greek organization may continue to participate on these independent league teams.  Such IM participation is considered independent of any Greek-affiliated organization.

In other words, FSU students who are affiliated with a fraternity or sorority may continue to participate in Intramural Sports as independent individuals.  Such students may register as part of a team in a men's, women's, co-rec, or open league.  Such students may also participate with other fraternity or sorority members on the same team.
