Recreation and wellness departments from across Florida gather each summer for the State Summit conference — a free conference designed to teach students and professional staff about trends in collegiate recreation.
FSU Campus Recreation hosted the 2019 State Summit conference on June 13 & 14 in Tallahassee, Florida. This year, approximately 150 student and professionals had the opportunity to network and learn from recreation professionals.
Attendees had the opportunity to hear from professionals in Intramural Sports, Outdoor Recreation, Marketing, Fitness, and Facility Operations. Consulting firms HOK and Brailsford & Dunlavey hosted a panel on trends in facility designs.
Tours of Florida State’s unique properties were also offered during the conference. Attendees had the opportunity to tour the FSU Reservation, a waterfront property; the Rec SportsPlex, an outdoor sport facility; and the Leach Center and the Fitness & Movement Clinic, fitness facilities.
Alumna Stacy Connell delivered the keynote address, Recreation: A Cornerstone for Integrated Health and Well-being. Connell is the senior director of Health Initiatives at Georgia Tech.
