What was your first job?
Pizza Hut… that lasted a day, pizza making was not for me. I got offered a job at Harvey’s,the grocery store next door, and worked in the meat department for the summer.
How did you get your start in Campus Recreation?
I was looking for a summer job prior to my junior year of college and an intramural supervisor I knew through playing IMs suggested that I apply to work for campus rec. I ended up becoming a facility assistant at the equipment desk in the gym.
What do you do for fun?
I love playing sports! If I’m not playing then I’m watching. When I’m not on the court or on the field I love watching movies or documentaries!
Who do you admire and why?
That’s tough. There’s not just one person that comes to mind. I admire those who meet adversity head on and continue to be unwavering in their commitment to changing the world in their own unique. I admire anyone who has had the odds stacked against them and never allowed it to dictate their attitude. I admire the fighters.
What’s your favorite place to grab a meal in Tallahassee?
Chubby’s chicken, 10 piece, hot, extra crispy!
What do you do?
I oversee our 7 competitive sports facilities. Our staff is responsible for facilitating events and drop-in use at each of the facilities. I coordinate special events year round, each unique in its own way.
What does an average day look like?
My day to day is never the same. Most days I’m wrapping up from an event and preparing for the next one. I try to make it out to each of our facilities to do walk-thru’s to make sure everything is kept in order. There are days where I spend the whole day outside at an event and others where I don’t leave the office because I’m taking care of administrative tasks.
What’s your favorite part of your job?
The people I work with for sure. From the students to the pro staff. Waking up everyday and looking forward to going to work is not something not to be taken for granted. I am fully supported by those around me, I’m pushed to be the best version of myself, and constantly given tasks to challenge me and help me grow. In turn I can provide the same environment for the students and help foster their growth and development.
What advice would you give yourself in college?
Its going to all work out how its supposed to, don’t worry so much. Sometimes life is about chess and thinking 2 moves ahead, but sometimes its just about living and enjoying the moment.
