Meet Jenna Ulewicz.
Name: Jenna Ulewicz
Undergraduate Degree: FSU, Human Resource Management & Management, 2008
Hometown: Palm Coast, Florida
Job: Human Resources
Working at FSU since: May 2010
What was your first job?
I was a barista at the Starbucks at the College of Medicine. I made a mean cup of coffee 🙂
How did you get your start in Campus Recreation?
I was working in central HR and Campus Recreation was one of the departments that I worked very closely with. When this opened up, I applied and was offered the position.
What do you do for fun?
All things FSU! Love tailgating (we bought an RV for this) and now camping in the RV. I also have an almost two year old and great dane, so a lot of what we do centers around the two of them.
Who do you admire and why?
In all honesty, my parents. They’re the best. You probably won’t fully realize this until you have children.
What’s your favorite place to grab a meal in Tallahassee?
Breakfast: Uptown Cafe
Lunch: Little Masa
Dinner: Kool Beanz
Dessert: Lofty Pursuits
What do you do?
All things HR for the department. This includes updating position descriptions advertising positions, organizational changes, and coordinating the onboarding process for our staff members.
What does an average day look like?
I usually start off with looking at my emails and seeing what I have on my calendar. I would be lost without Outlook to organize my day. Someone will more than likely pop in my office to ask a question or need help with something and it will go from there!
What’s your favorite part of your job?
The variety and interaction with the student staff. Each day can be very different. I also love the energy in the Leach Center.
What advice would you give yourself in college?
Enjoy your time on campus. Paddle at the Rez. Jump in the Westcott fountain. Eat a pastry at the Greek Food Festival. Cheer on the Noles! Go to a downtown getdown. Take a picture with the Garnet & Gold Guys. Visit First Friday. Go to the circus. Visit St. George Island. Walk around Lake Ella. Listen to some music at the Bradfordville Blues Club. Get involved somehow because it will be over before you know it.
