FSU Climbing Wall is a Campus Recreation program aimed at providing the opportunity to learn and experience the growing sport of climbing. Our wall is located on beautiful Lake Bradford at the Rez and is open to FSU students, faculty and staff as well as to the surrounding community. The program focuses on learning the climbing basics, fitness through climbing, building self-esteem, and having fun. Previous climbing knowledge and experience is encouraged, but not required.
This job application is to be submitted by individuals who want to be considered for the Climbing Wall Staff position.
Expectations of an applicant include the desire to learn more about climbing, have a welcoming and inclusive personality, and like to work outside. Wall staff are responsible for the set-up, take-down, and proper storage of the ropes and other equipment used at the wall. This includes the ability to climb to the top of the tower and rappel down to the bottom (we will teach you how to do this).
CPR for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid certification through American Red Cross is required for all Campus Recreation employees. Monthly staff meetings and the ability to get out to The Rez is required. Weekends must be available. FSU Climbing Wall requires a minimum 1-year commitment to employment.
