About the Club

Cuong Nhu (“hard soft” in Vietnamese) incorporates the best elements of several martial arts styles. It incorporates techniques from Shotokan Karate, Judo, Wing Chung, T’ai Chi Chuan, Aikido, Boxing and Vovinam (A Vietnamese martial art). Master Ngo Dong, an expert in Vovinam (Vietnamese martial arts) and a black belt in Judo and Shotokan, founded the Cuong Nhu style of martial arts in 1965 in Hue, Vietnam.

To participate here at FSU, you do not need to have any past experience or training in any kind of martial arts. We are a very recreational club that is made to take a break from school and focus on something else for a little while.
