Group Fitness provides advance class registration for many high-demand and space-limited classes. Advance registration for these select classes takes place via the FSU Rec app or the Rec Connect web portal, up to 25 hours prior to the class start time.
Other classes (that do not require sign-up) will continue to accept walk-in participants at the start of the class until the maximum is reached or until class begins.
Registration Information
Group fitness class registration begins 25 hours prior to the class’s start time. For example, reservations for a class starting at 2:00 pm begin at 1:00 pm on the day prior to the class day. And, you’ll need to check-in at the class location at least 10 minutes prior to class time to keep your spot.
To reserve a spot in a class in the Rec Connect web portal:
- Visit our Rec Connect web portal.
- Click on the Log in link in the upper right to log in to your Rec Connect account. FSU students, faculty, and staff must use the University Account option, others will use the Local Account option.
- Click on Fitness Classes to view the list of classes offered.
- Locate the class you want to take either in the calendar or grid (list) view. You can use the search boxes to narrow the list.
- For the class, day, and time desired, touch the Register button.
- Scroll down to the bottom and touch the BLUE Register button. A Registration Summary screen will appear.
- Click the BLUE Complete Registration button.
As a confirmation, a Registration Complete screen will appear with a large blue check. You will also receive an email at your FSU account (or for non-University members, your email on file) with a confirmation.
To reserve a spot in a class in the DSE Rec Center app:
- Click on the Modules tab, then Classes button, then the Program Area that interests you to view the list of classes offered.
- Locate the class you want to take either in the calendar or grid (list) view. You can use the search boxes to narrow the list.
- For the class, day, and time desired, touch the Register button. A new Class Description screen will appear with class details.
- Scroll down to the bottom and touch the BLUE Register button. A Registration Summary screen will appear.
- Click the BLUE Complete Registration button.
As a confirmation, a Registration Complete screen will appear with a large blue check. You will also receive an email at your FSU account (or for non-University members, your email on file) with a confirmation.

When registration for a class is full, interested participants may stand in the standby line to take any available spots left in the class. There is a sign located outside every studio indicating where the standby line begins.
Five minutes prior to class starting, the instructor will assess any available spots left in the class and allow people from the standby line to fill those spots.
To claim your registered spot, you must arrive and be in the studio no later than 10 minutes prior to class time (15 minutes for Spinning). Late arrivals will be moved to the end of the standby line. No shows are subject to penalty including restrictions on future registrations. Doors close 5 minutes prior to class time.
If you cannot make the class you registered for, canceling as soon as possible and at least 1 hour prior to class time is appreciated to open spaces for other users. Group Fitness registration cancellations are completed via the FSU Rec app or in any web browser via the Rec Connect web portal and login using your FSU login credentials.
To cancel a class registration in the Rec Connect web portal:

- Click on Fitness Classes then the BLUE My Classes link in the upper right. This will display your current registrations.
- Touch View button next to the class in which you want to cancel your registration. A Class Details screen will appear.
- Touch the BLUE Unregister link in the upper right. A pop-up box will appear.
- Finally, touch BLUE Unregister button in the pop-up box to confirm your registration cancellation.
The class will be removed from your list of active classes that appears next. You will also receive an email at your FSU account (or for non-University members, your email on file) with a confirmation.

- Touch View button under the class in which you want to cancel your registration. A Class Details screen will appear.

- Finally, touch BLUE Unregister button in the pop-up box to confirm your registration cancellation.
The class will be removed from your list of active classes that appears next. You will also receive an email at your FSU account (or for non-University members, your email on file) with a confirmation.
Excessive cancellations or no-shows will result in suspension of registration privileges across all Campus Recreation programs, with a minimum suspension of 2 weeks.
