The goal of Women’s Rugby Club at FSU is to teach and competitively play the sport of women’s rugby, as well as creating a welcoming environment for individuals to grow and create lifelong friendships.
We are an inclusive group that hopes to teach others about the great sport of rugby and play competitively. We practice three times a week, where players will learn the skills necessary to play. There will even be opportunities to play games and tournaments on select weekends. People of all backgrounds are encouraged to join us, including all levels of experience (even if you have never even seen a rugby ball or heard of the sport before!). Members will be encouraged to participate in fundraising, traveling, volunteering, team socials, and other team-oriented events.
The Women’s Rugby Club at Florida State was founded in 1975, and what started here changed the rugby world. Our team has won the National Championship four times (’79, ’80, ’84, ’85). Our alumni include Cathy Flores, former head coach of the U.S. National Women’s Rugby Team, and at least seven players who played or are playing for the U.S. National Team.
