Current Policies

All participants in adventure trips coordinated and led by the FSU Outdoor Pursuits program are subject to the following policies and procedures.

Current FSU students can register by signing into Rec Connect with their FSU login. Select the Outdoor Pursuits category to show the list of OP trips. Click on the View button next to a specific trip for trip costs and details.  Once you login to Rec Connect (upper right of screen), you will see the price for which you are eligible. You can sign-up and pay immediately in Rec Connect.

Payment is due at registration via credit/debit card.  Registration is also available at the Leach Center Front Desk, credit or debit card payment only.  Cash and checks are not accepted for payment at any Campus Recreation locations.

No Drugs, Alcohol, or Firearms2026-01-07T18:27:46-05:00

Drugs, alcohol, and firearms are prohibited on all Outdoor Pursuits trips and programs.

The presence of drugs, alcohol, and/or firearms significantly increases the risk of harm to oneself and others, including fellow participants and trip leaders. To ensure the safety and well-being of all individuals involved, participants are required to review and sign the Drug and Alcohol Policy Consent Form at the time of trip registration.

Transportation is provided by FSU Campus Rec for registered participants. Pick up location will be discussed in the pre-trip meeting/email.

Refund Policy for FSU Outdoor Pursuits Trips/Clinics 
Trip times and itineraries are subject to change based on weather, unforeseen circumstances, or risk management/logistical decisions from the Outdoor Pursuits program staff.

Full refunds will be issued in the event of the following circumstances:

  • Trip cancellation deemed necessary by program staff
  • By request due to a major change to the trip itinerary communicated by a trip leader (i.e. trip location change, variation from activities advertised)

All other refund requests are charged a $15 processing fee. Trips or clinics costing less than $15 are not eligible for refunds.  Refund requests must be received in advance of the trip or clinic to receive a partial refund (see chart below). Please submit inquiries and requests to outdoorpursuits@fsu.edu.

No Show / Cancellation Policy for FSU Outdoor Pursuits Trips and Clinics 
Excessive no-shows and/or cancellations for trips or clinics will result in suspension of registration privileges, with a minimum suspension of 1 semester.

Pre-Trip Communication2026-01-07T18:32:41-05:00

Initial communication for trips will be sent through email within two weeks of the trip start date. Responses are required to keep your registration.

For overnight trips and some day trips, we hold a short pre-trip meeting to discuss your adventure trip. It is an opportunity to meet fellow participants, trip leaders, ask questions, and understand expectations. Meal planning, equipment fitting, and other timely information is covered. Attendance is required, so make sure you check your email and let your trip leaders know if you are unable to attend.

All staff is trained in First Aid and CPR. The cost of any rescue or treatment beyond first aid will be borne by the participant.

Outdoor Pursuits is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal equipment.
