Updates for ongoing special facility maintenance and renovation projects across Campus Recreation’s seven facilities.

Leach Recreation Center HVAC Renovation

Campus Recreation is undertaking a multi-million dollar project to upgrade the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) units throughout the building. Many of the units to be replaced are original to the building, installed in the early 1990s. The project will modernize the HVAC system reducing ongoing maintenance costs and improving overall efficiency. The project will take place in phases over a 12 to 15 month period.

Phase 1 of the project includes the HVAC units along the indoor track, causing the indoor track to be closed to patrons beginning December 15, 2025, with an anticipated completion date of March 27, 2026. As full closure of the track is required for this work, the department prioritized the winter months for this phase to allow patrons to consider outdoor running or walking when outdoor temperatures are more comfortable.

December 1, 2025 Update

Phase one of the Leach Center HVAC Renovation Project remains on schedule. The indoor track will close at the end of the fall semester and remain closed through March 27, 2026. Construction walls will be in place to start the spring semester. The majority of the maintenance work is focused on units located on the roof and in ceiling locations, largely metal work. Construction dust is expected to be minimal and contained within the enclosed construction space (track area).
