In Spring 2018, we will be hosting the first FSU Campus Rec Leadership Conference. This conference will be a fun and developmental opportunity for all new and veteran supervisors. Potential topics include (*subject to change): Critical Thinking; Problem Solving; Principles of Mentoring; Diversity, Inclusion, and Access Training; Professional Ethics; Value-Based Leadership; Resume/Cover Letter Information and Review; and Personal Financial Literacy.
2018's conference will be January 20th, 2018. If you have any questions, please contact April Lovett.
If you are currently working in FSU Campus Recreation, all program areas have established Student Director positions that work directly with professional staff members in order to accomplish the goals of the department. These positions are high-responsibility positions that will give you experience in supervising staff members, conducting administration work, and oversight of certain parts of the program. Every area conducts their own promotion process for Student Director positions; for more information please inquire with your direct professional staff supervisor.
The Student Leadership Council is made up of student leaders throughout every program area in the department. These leaders are the liaisons beteween the professional staff and the student staff. The SLC conducts leadership workshops for the department; helps facilitate focus groups for participants and student employees; assists with planning and facilitating the Campus Rec Classic every spring; and helps with the Campus Rec Golf Tournament. SLC members recieve additional professional development opportunities to further develop their leadership skills including a 2-day retreat before the start of the fall semester, workshop and conference opportunities, and other college campus facility and program tours.
The SGA Recreation Board is a SGA-elected board that provides guidance for activities, services, and programs offered through FSU Campus Recreation. The board represents the university community and ensures facilities, amenities, and services offered meet the needs and interests of the university community.
Anyone can apply to be elected to RecBoard. For more information, please visit the SGA Recreation Board site.
